  • ROLLING with the STONES
    by Bill Wyman
    ~ First Edition, 1st Printing Hardcover ~
The Rolling Stones, commonly referred to as the world's greatest rock 'n' roll band, epitomize everything that's excessive, lavish, exciting, and powerful about rock music. Now, founding member Bill Wyman, the Rolling Stones' bassist from 1962 through 1993 presents an honest and humorous account that serves as a backstage pass to the band's history, from drug busts, to tax exile, to solo careers.

Straight from Wyman's huge personal archive, this MASSIVE coffee table book features previously unreleased letters, photographs, memorabilia, and personal journals. Every one of the book's 512 pages is crammed with images, including photographs never before published, and such ephemera as ticket stubs, concert programs, posters, reviews, letters, postcards, magazine covers and security badges. There's so much, you can spend hours just looking at the illustrations....

Wyman details how the group, which began as a club band playing souped-up versions of R&B songs, developed quickly beyond their roots towards the raw and aggressive sound that shocked a music world dominated by clean-cut bands, and finally evolved into what has often been called "the greatest rock and roll band in the world." ROLLING WITH THE STONES is a must for Stones fans, because it's one of few insider looks, and because many of the photos are new.

Among the memorable photographs are a fit and trim Richards in swimwear on a 1968 Australia tour and a three-shot sequence of Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall and a paparazzo, during which Jagger confronts the shutterbug and ends up on his back on the sidewalk. Wyman shows humility and humor by including his quote from '67: "It's alright leaping about the stage when you're 20, but when you get to 25 or 26 it gets a bit embarrassing."

With over 2000 photographs in all, more than 45 beautifully designed tour spreads, song lists from every show, and biographies on each band member, there is no need for any other Stones book to be written.
