    From Library Journal
Archivist Karnbach (The Rolling Stones in Europe, Beaufort, 1983) and photojournalist Bernson divide the Stones's creative activities into seven sections. "Chronology" lists significant miscellaneous events in the band's career, though entries can be inconsistent (e.g., only some record release dates, also found in the discography, are included here). "Tours and Concerts" attempts to record every known live performance and even includes set lists. The "Sessionography" chronicles all recording studio activity, while the "Discography" lists all the group's official recordings (i.e., no bootlegs) in the United States and the United Kingdom, a few significant releases from other countries, and promotional recordings. Other sections include "Films," "Television Appearances" (primarily in the United States and the United Kingdom), and "Promotional Films and Videos." Unfortunately, facts about a particular release are often awkwardly repeated or split between some U.S. and U.K. entries. Still, this book is unique in emphasizing facts and details about the Stones's work rather than their offstage exploits. Recommended for most popular music collections, though a new Stones album and tour this fall already outdate the book.
