November 8, 2005 -- Los Angeles: The Rolling Stones played "As Tears Go By" on tour, for the first time ever, at the Hollywood Bowl tonight.

The Stones had played the tune live twice before - on "Top Of The Pops" in London on January 20th, 1966 and on the Ed Sullivan show in New York on February 13, 1966, where the song was performed with a string section.

"As Tears Go By" was written by Jagger/Richards - and was the first song ever written by Keith Richards.

It was recorded by Marianne Faithful in 1964, and became a chart-topping hit.

The Stones recorded "As Tears Go By" on October 26, 1965 at IBC Studios on Portland Place (London). It was released on February 4, 1966 as the b-side to "19th Nervous Breakdown."

The Stones also recorded "As Tears Go By" in Italian - "Con le mie lacrime," with Mick singing in Italian.
