An dem bekanntesten Strand der Welt wird eine der bekanntesten Bands der Welt am Samstag eines der größten Konzerte der Welt geben.

Die Rolling Stones werden am kommenden Samstag, 18. Februar, in Rio ein Konzert geben. An der bekannten Copacabana soll die für alle frei zugängliche Mega-Veranstaltung vor einer Millionen Zuschauer stattfinden. Eigens zu diesem Zweck wird eine Brücke vom Hotel, in dem die Band untergebracht sein wird, über die Straße hin zum Strand gebaut. Die Musiker können so direkt von ihrer Suite im sechsten Stock auf die sieben Stockwerke hohe, gigantische Bühne gelangen.

Der Strand ist nicht nur durch verschiedene Songs bekannt, sondern auch für sein zwielichtiges Geschehen mit Drogenhandel und Prostitution. Zur Gewährleistung der Sicherheit sollen 10.000 Polizisten eingesetzt werden.

Rolling Stones in Rio: 2 Millionen Zuschauer erwartet

Hamburg (dpa) Das könnte groß werden, sehr, sehr groß: Rund zwei Millionen Zuschauer werden zum Konzert der Rolling Stones in Rio de Janeiro erwartet, wenn die «Britrocker» am Samstag (18. Februar) am Copacabana Beach spielen, meldet «Gigwise.com»

Damit würden die Stones glatt ins Guinness Buch der Rekorde kommen: Den momentanen Zuschauerrekord hält Rod Stewart, der Silvester 1994 - ebenfalls in Rio - vor 1,5 Millionen Besuchern spielte.
