Es wird behauptet, dass dies die erste CD von The Rolling Stones ist, die in der UdSSR hergestellt wurde. Persönlich habe ich diese CD 1990-1995 nie in den Plattenläden in Kiew, Ukraine, gesehen. Aber viele Leute sagten, es wurde in Moskau und Leningrad / St. Petersburg Plattenläden. Der Preis für Jugendliche war jedoch himmelhoch - 20 oder 25 sowjetische Rubel. Beide - Broschüre und Rückseite - tragen das Мелодия-Logo. Daher glauben die Leute, dass die CD offiziell in der UdSSR herausgegeben wurde. Und dieses Wissen ist auf der ganzen Welt verbreitet, siehe e.x. Geoffrey Giuliano, Not Fade Away (ISBN: 9781850283676), S. 202-203. Es war jedoch 1990, die späte Perestroika-Zeit, als die UdSSR fast zusammenbrach. Niemand kümmerte sich um rechtliche Fragen und die Verwendung des Logos. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt wurden 3 inoffizielle LPs von The Rolling Stones von Melogia als Teil der Serie Архив Популярной Музыки (Achieve Of Popular Music) herausgegeben. Diese Ausgaben waren jedoch in der UdSSR legal, da sie keine Urheberrechte für Musik berücksichtigen, die vor 1973 herausgegeben wurden.

Die Dinge, die darauf hinweisen, dass diese CD ein Bootleg ist, sind die folgenden.

Die offiziellen Katalognummern (und Matrixnummern) der UdSSR für Rock-CDs sollten wie SUCD 60 - 00XXX aussehen. Das offizielle Präfix kann nicht SUM sein. Die Glasmeister für die sowjetischen CDs wurden oft in Schweden geschnitten und tragen zusätzliche Zeichenfolgen in der Matrix 'CD PLANT MFG'. (Diese Zeichenfolge fehlt hier). Dies sind die Todesindikatoren - die CD ist ein gut aussehendes Bootleg.

Die nächste CD mit der ähnlichen Katalognummer - Shocking Blue - 13 Golden Hits [SUM 90 002] (und weitere 8 mit Katalognummern von SUM 90 003 bis SUM 90 010) wurde von einer Firma namens Орфей / Orpheus herausgegeben. Sie trugen kein Melodia-Logo. Es wird behauptet, dass diese kurzlebige (1990-1992) Plattenfirma als Unterabteilung von Melodia gegründet wurde, die zu dieser Zeit auseinander fiel. Ihr rechtlicher Status und ihre Herkunft (Produktionsanlage) sind daher fraglich.

Andererseits ist es sicher, dass es ein bulgarisches Unternehmen mit dem gleichen Titel Орфей (Teil von Balkanton-София) gab, das im selben Zeitraum auf dem osteuropäischen Bootleg-Markt sehr aktiv war. Daher ist es sehr wahrscheinlich (fast 100%), dass diese CD nicht in der UdSSR, sondern in Bulgarien hergestellt wurde. Die gesamte Serie SUM 90 001 - SUM 90 010 scheint bulgarischen Bootlegs zu ähneln, die der UdSSR ähneln.

Ein paar Worte zur Klangqualität. Anscheinend stammt diese CD aus der Singles Collection - The London Years (alle Titel außer 4, 13, 18, 19) und December's Children (höchstwahrscheinlich ABKCO Edition). Ich habe keine Ahnung, warum sie Tracks so wählen. Tracks werden bezogen, aber nicht eins zu eins kopiert. Das Niveau der Aufnahme ist sehr niedrig - fast doppelt so niedrig wie bei der 2. CD aus der Singles Collection (1989 ABKCO-Version). Außerdem werden Kanäle für drei Stereospuren (Child Of The Moon, Jumping Jack Flash und Honky Tonk Women) in Bezug auf die Singles Collection vertauscht. Alle anderen Tracks sind in Mono. Insgesamt ist die Klangqualität nicht sehr gut. Einige könnten sagen, die CD klingt seltsam, wenn nicht schrecklich.

Fazit: Es ist ein schönes Spielzeug für einen Sammler-Komplettisten. Zahlen Sie jedoch keine überzogenen eBay-Preise für "die 1. UdSSR-CD". Es ist nicht offiziell, es wird nicht in der UdSSR hergestellt, sondern als Raubkopie (mit einer Wahrscheinlichkeit von fast 100%, die in Bulgarien für den sowjetischen Markt hergestellt wird). Es ist nur eine seltsame Neuheit.

PS. Es gibt ein anderes russisches (oder chinesisches) Bootleg mit derselben Katalognummer, demselben Titel und derselben Titelliste. Aber es ist in Digipak verpackt. Es hat unterschiedliche Etikettenfarben (lila) und Matrixnummern. Halten Sie sich von diesem fern - es ist eine Neuauflage des alten Stiefels.

This one is claimed to be the first CD of The Rolling Stones made in the USSR. Personally, I never saw this CD in the record shops in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1990-1995. But a lot of people said it was sold in Moscow and Leningrad/St. Petersburg record shops. Though, the price for youngsters was sky high – 20 or 25 Soviet Rubles. Mind that in the USSR in 1990 the university master student monthly fellowship was in the range 40-60 Rubles and an engineer at the factory with less than 3 years of working experience got something like 120-150 Rubles per month.

Anyway, the disc is packed in a heavy plastic jewel case, typical for late 80’s – early 90’s. Four pages booklet is bare bone but printed on thick paper. Back cover contains AAD code and MADE IN USSR notations, date – 1990, reference for Moscow record plant “Gramzapis”, article number 17-9, price – 20 Rubles and TУ number – Soviet code for technical specifications. Both – booklet and back cover - carry Мелодия logo. Thus, people believe the CD was officially issued in the USSR. And this knowledge is spread around the world, see e.x. Geoffrey Giuliano, Not Fade Away (ISBN: 9781850283676), pp. 202-203. However, it was 1990, the late Perestroika times, the USSR almost collapsed. Nobody cared about legal issues and usage of the logotype. By that time 3 unofficial LP’s of The Rolling Stones were issued by Melogia as a part of Архив Популярной Музыки (Achieve Of Popular Music) series. Although, those editions were legal in the USSR as they do not consider copyrights properties for music issued before 1973.

The things that point this CD is a bootleg are the following.

The official USSR catalog (and matrix) numbers for rock CD's should look like SUCD 60 - 00XXX. The official prefix can not be SUM. The glass masters for the Soviet CD's were often cut in Sweden and carry additional string in the matrix 'CD PLANT MFG.' (this string is absent here). These are the killing indicators - the CD is a nice looking bootleg.

The next CD with the similar catalog number – Shocking Blue – 13 Golden Hits [SUM 90 002] (and another 8 with catalog #’s from SUM 90 003 till SUM 90 010) were issued by a company named Орфей/Orpheus. They did not carry Melodia logo. It is claimed that this short lived (1990-1992) record company was formed as a sub-division of Melodia that was falling apart at that time. Thus, their legal status and origin (production plant) are questionable.

On the other hand it is certain that there was Bulgarian company with the same title Орфей (part of Balkanton-София) and they were very active on bootleg market in the Eastern Europe in the very same time frame. Thus, it is very probable (almost 100%) that this CD was not made in the USSR but in Bulgaria. The whole series SUM 90 001 - SUM 90 010 seem to be ‘USSR-look alike’ Bulgarian bootlegs.

A few words about sound quality. Apparently, this CD is sourced from Singles Collection – The London Years (all tracks but 4, 13, 18, 19) and December’s Children (most probably, ABKCO edition). I have no idea why they choose tracks this way. Tracks are sourced but not copied one-to-one. The level of the record is very low – almost twice lower comparing to the 2nd CD from the Singles Collection (1989 ABKCO version). Also, channels for three stereo tracks (Child Of The Moon, Jumping Jack Flash and Honky Tonk Women) are swapped with respect to the Singles Collection. All other tracks are in mono. Overall sound quality is not very good. Some could say the CD sounds strange if not awful.

In conclusion – it is a nice toy for a collector-completist. But do not pay overblown ebay prices for 'the 1st USSR CD'. It is not official, it is not made in the USSR but a bootleg (with almost 100% probability made in Bulgaria for Soviet market). It is just a weird novelty.

PS. There is another Russian (or Chinese) bootleg of the same catalog #, title and track list. But it is packed in digipak. It has different label color (purple) and matrix number. Stay away from that one - it is a recent re-make of the old boot.

Der Wissensstand vom Erstposting bis heute hat sich natürlich geändert. Ich hatte es in meinem Posting Nr.2 ja schon geschrieben das ich diese CD auch als Bootleg betrachte, aber geringe Restzweifel bestehen.

Eigentlich diskutieren wir in der Discografie-Area nicht (dafür gibts ja einen Extra Bereich) aber ich lasse deine Erklärungen zum besseren Verständnis der Problematik mal hier im Threat stehen.

The level of knowledge from the first posting until today has of course changed. I had already written it in my post number 2 that I also consider this CD to be a bootleg, but there are few remaining doubts.

Actually, we don't discuss in this direct CD threats of the discography area (there is an extra area for that) but I would like to stay your comments here in the threat to better understand the problem.
