Chris Jagger's Atcha! Perform With Special Guest Mick Jagger, 14th May 2007.

2007-05-16 17:02:55 - The unmistakable figure of Chris Jagger sauntered through the audience, arriving on stage to take up position on vocals with his Zydeco-rock band ‘Atcha'. Having put in an earlier cameo appearance pulling pints for a parched audience behind the bar, Chris's arrival was greeted with an interjection from band mate, Charlie Hart: -
"Sorry tonight's show features Chris Jagger's Atcha"- he declared, to a bemused Chris! This incidental piece of musical theatre was an unusual, yet lovely touch prompting Chris Jagger to double- take the evening, returning to the stage once again, having already transformed west London's Bulls Head into the terrain of a country and western style bar. With accordion, washboard and a mean electric guitar at the ready, Atcha were poised to provide us with a unique night fuelled with a satisfying series of musical surprises.

Atcha's repertoire comprised some extremely well executed versions of songs from their latest album, Act Of Faith, a compilation of human and earthy originals featuring the likes of Sam Brown, Billy Jenkins and Dave Gilmour as guest artists on CD. Tonight, each track was delivered with high- octane vibes and the same integration of adept lyrical wisdom and musical fluency
that they captured on record, explored further into the live setting. ‘It's Amazing (What People Throw Away)' was followed by ‘Junkman' and the exuberant ‘Monique' penned by Chris and Charlie Hart. A little after the interval, our already packed house was treated to a unique surprise when Chris invited brother Mick to the stage, dueting on ‘Dead Flowers'. This Stones country number was perhaps a slightly ‘left field' song selection, but the reaction from the assembled audience was absolutely ecstatic. Mick and Chris's camaraderie was only too apparent in this live impromptu situation, stronger still perhaps, than on their funky duet ‘DJ Blues' from Chris's recent record. The night drew to a crescendo following Mick's departure from the stage with powerful versions of ‘On The Road' and the tongue in cheek ‘Law Against It' taken from Channel Fever.

Atcha's recent date at The Bull's Head will be followed by a run of further UK gigs including the Mayfest in Hertfordshire and a date at Evershot Hall, Dorset amongst others. It's not simply a cliché to view this band as a well kept industry secret- so don't let the experience of seeing them live elude you. Without a doubt all three Atcha band albums deserve more attention from the British press, with Chris and his band's postmodern style of Louisiana Cajun/Zydeco-rock never ceasing to entertain with their adept musicality and wit. Es gab mal ne Krimiserie im TV, da vernichtete sich ein Tonabnad am Ende immer selbst.
Bei dem Link sind dermaßen viele aussetzer, bin ich mal bei Youtube rein, da geht dieses Video überhaupt nicht auf. Sabotage von Mick?? Schnüff, der Anfang war sooo gut.
