In der Zwischenzeit können sich Stones-Fans mit der kommenden Dokumentation trösten, die im Herbst erscheinen wird. Sie wird die komplette 50-jährige Geschichte der Band aufarbeiten und viel ungesehenes und ungehörtes Material aufbieten. "Wir werden die Geschichte nicht wie eine klassische Erzählung komponieren", sagt Regisseur Brett Morgen, der 2002 die Dokumenation "The Kid Stays In The Picture" über den legendären Paramount-Produzenten Robert Evans machte. "Wir haben in jede dunkle Ecke ihres Archivs geschaut. Wir werden Musik haben, die noch niemand gehört hat, und ich habe bisher über 50 Stunden exklusives Interviewmaterial. Wenn wir fertig sind, wird es das ausführlichste Bandinterview sein, dass es je gegeben haben." Richards dazu: "Er sagte mir, rund 80 Prozent des Materials wurde nie zuvor gezeigt. Das ist fantastisch. Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass wir noch so vieles haben."

Anlass ist das 50-jährige Bühnenjubiläum, das die Briten in diesem Jahr begehen. Gezeigt wird darin noch nie zuvor veröffentlichtes Material, das die Stones im Studio und auf Tour begleitet. Die Produzenten versprechen derweil „eine Reise durch 50 Jahre Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll.“

In einem Statement erklärt Morgan zu dem Projekt, das im September erscheinen soll: „Der Film wird den originalen, unerschrockenen, sexy und gefährlichen Beigeschmack dieser ikonischen Rockband liefern.“

Die Mitglieder der Band - Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts und Ronnie Wood - werden als ausführende Produzenten tätig sein.

Eine Tour zum Jubiläum wird es dagegen nicht geben, wie Richards kürzlich dem Magazin ‚Rolling Stone’ verriet: „Im Grunde sind wir einfach noch nicht bereit“, gestand der 68-Jährige und fügte auf die Nachfrage, ob es im nächsten Jahr mit einer Konzertreihe klappen könnte, hinzu: „Ich habe das Gefühl, dass das realistischer ist.“

Wenn dann ist die Let it Bleed Doku die beste, die beinhaltet ja im Grunde 25x5, ist aber aktueller (bis Licks Tour). Ist ja auch von den gleichen Produzenten (DoRo).

Wenn man an Stones in Exile denkt, die ich auch für sehr gelungen halte, könnte die neue Doku schon interessant werden!
